Head and neck cancer includes all the malignant tumors occurring on the head and neck -- including the mouth, nose, eyes and ears. It covers many types of cancer and the incidence varies for each site. For example, oral cavity cancer accounts for about three percent of all new cancers, but larynx cancer accounts for only about one percent in Minnesota.
The Head and Neck Cancer Program at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview offers its patients multidisciplinary, comprehensive, high-quality treatment and care in a central location. Our team of head and neck specialists designs a treatment plan for each patient with respect for the needs of both the patient and family. The overall goal is to achieve a positive impact on the patient's quality of life and long-term survival.
