Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women. Each year more than 180,000 new cases are diagnosed in the United States. Breast cancer comes in several different forms, which vary in their ability to spread to other parts of the body. Each type of breast cancer behaves in its own way, and accurately identifying the specific type is essential to effective treatment.
The multidisciplinary team at the Breast Center offers a comprehensive approach to screening, diagnosis, treatment, and after-treatment support. Our team of specialists includes surgeons, radiation and medical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, genetic counselors, nurses, rehabilitation therapists and social workers. As experts in the many facets of breast cancer care, our team members bring the latest knowledge in each specialty area, including advanced digital mammography and diagnostic imaging. A nurse program coordinator orchestrates all aspects of a patient's care and is the communications link for the patient and family.
