The Birthplace

Delivering an exceptional birth experience

Take a virtual tour of The Birthplace, or hear Emily Borman-Shoap, MD, director of Newborn Care at The Birthplace, talk about how we care for new babies--and new moms.  Dr. Borman-Shoap also explains the ten steps we took to attain Baby Friendly certification.

The Birthplace staff has helped women give birth to tens of thousands of babies, but we still view every birth as unique. We work closely with you and your health care provider to support the choices you make in your birth plan, to ensure your experience is exceptional.

Your comfort and convenience matter to us
We’ve designed modern, private and secure birthing and postpartum rooms. They come equipped with the latest technology, assuring the best for you and your baby. Rooms also include free Wi-Fi so you can immediately announce your happy news.

The Birthplace offers additional amenities and services for new moms and their babies. Services include photography, convenient access to Fairview Pharmacies and more.

The use of a birthing tub is an alternative for some women. To learn more about the birthing tub experience, along with the many other options for your personal birthing plan, talk with your health care provider.

What newborn care and support can you expect?
After your baby’s birth, our experienced baby specialists will help you learn how to care for your baby. You’ll learn important tips that are fascinating and even sometimes fun. Certified, caring lactation consultants are on hand to assist and support you for successful breastfeeding.

If you’re looking for a physician or certified nurse midwife to care for you during the planning phases of your pregnancy, while you're pregnant and after you give birth, we partner with many outstanding health care providers in the area. Find a clinic near you.
