The Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic evaluates, diagnoses and provides treatment for otolaryngological conditions and diseases. We offer head and neck oncology (cancer treatment), trauma, otology/neurology/audiology (ear/ear-brain/hearing), rhinology (sinal, nasal and breathing), laryngology (voice and swallowing), facial plastics, sleep surgery, and pediatric services.
Head and Neck Oncology
The Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic’s subspecialists in oncology diagnose and treat cancerous and non-cancerous growths in the head and neck. Because our surgeons specialize in treating these lesions, they offer significant expertise to our patients. Likewise, our collaborative approach – working with colleagues in radiation oncology, medical oncology, speech pathology, radiology and pathology – allows patients to get multiple opinions and coordinated, comprehensive care.
Otology/Neurotology/Audiology
Specialties that address ear issues involve otology (ear diseases), neurotology (diseases at the ear-brain junction) and audiology (hearing loss). At the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic, we use a multidisciplinary method in diagnosing and treating ear problems using progressive techniques and combining our expertise with that of audiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, ophthalmologists, physical therapists, and others in providing comprehensive care.
Rhinology (Sinal, Nasal and Breathing)
Sinal, nasal and breathing issues (such as allergies, sinus infections and nasal polyps) as well as structural problems are diagnosed and treated by the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic’s team of rhinology subspecialists. Our rhinologists also treat rare sinonasal and skull base tumors, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks and congenital nasal deformities. We are unique in our treatment offerings, our specialist collaborations and our commitment to patient involvement.
Laryngology (Voice and Swallowing)
Laryngeal disorders treated in the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic primarily involve voice problems, but may also involve swallowing or airway restriction issues. With many subspecialists working together, patients are treated efficiently and most effectively to create optimal outcomes.
Facial Plastics
The Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic’s subspecialists diagnose and surgically treat congenital, traumatic and post-ablative defects of the craniofacial skeleton using the latest techniques such as maxillofacial reconstruction intra-operative CT scanning, reabsorbable fixation plates and screws, and image guidance that allows minimally invasive approaches to minimize pain and quicken recovery. We also offer cosmetic services at locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area. We provide consistent, around-the-clock care as well as the benefit of statewide relationships with providers, resulting in high quality, congruent care.
Sleep Surgery
More than 70 million people in the U.S. suffer from some type of sleep disorder. Many don’t even know it. Many others don’t think there is anything they can do about it, but treatment is available. The Sleep Medicine Clinic and Sleep Center at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview are accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Pediatric ENT
University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital offers evaluation, diagnoses and treatment for children’s otolaryngological issues. The Children’s Hospital features bilateral cochlear implant surgery, airway reconstructive surgery and new procedures to avoid tracheotomies.
