Mental Health
If mental health challenges are affecting the quality of your life, Behavioral Health Services can help. Our therapeutic programs are customized to meet the needs of people struggling with mental health issues. Highly qualified professionals help you understand yourself, develop effective coping skills, make healthful choices, and experience hope and healing. Behavioral Health Services, Mental Health Programs provide inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

Substance Abuse
Behavioral Health Services offers effective programs for those afflicted by alcohol or drug addiction. Customized to meet the needs of people struggling with substance abuse issues, our programs help you gain personal insight, develop coping skills, and learn to live a more healthy, happy life.

Counseling Services
When the challenges of day-to-day living, family or work become overwhelming you can rely on us. Fairview Counseling Services provides short-term, solution-centered therapy to help you define your problems. We’ll help you find your unique strengths and provide resources to help balance your life.

Behavioral Emergency Center
The Behavioral Emergency Center is an extension of the Emergency Department at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview on our Riverside campus. We offer emergency care, assessment and referrals for people in a behavioral crisis.

Compulsive Gambling
When gambling becomes an addiction, Behavioral Health Services can help. As experts in addiction issues, our highly qualified professionals help you understand and overcome the pull of gambling addiction and lead a more peaceful, balanced life.

Cultural Support Services
We are dedicated to providing quality, culturally appropriate services to our clients, their families and significant others. We accomplish this through our own resources as well as collaborating with community agencies. Specific cultural services include:

  • Coordinating culturally specific services and activities per the needs and expectation of patient populations and programs
  • Ongoing community-based support
  • Client advocacy

Fairview Domestic Abuse Services (FDAS)
Services are provided to University of Minnesot Medical Center, Fairview's patients, employees and community members who are or have been in an abusive relationship.

First Episode Psychosis Program
University of Minnesota Medical Center has long been a leader in providing exceptional care for those with psychotic illness. Our First Episode Psychosis program helps individuals and families grow in understanding their illness and develop skills that can help them live healthier and happier lives.
