Celebrating 50 Years of Transplantation

We want to thank everyone who participated in our events celebrating 50 years of transplant innovation, expertise and compassionate care! Whether you attended the Looking Back to Move Forward Gala, the Life After Transplant Patient Education Conference or participated in other events the Transplant Center held earlier in the year, you were all a key part in making our celebration year a success.

Please join us in taking a look back over the Gala and Patient Education Event.

We shared this beautiful video at each of our celebration events this year and encourage you to share it with family and friends!

Looking Back to Move Forward: 50th Anniversary Transplant Gala

Together, we celebrated with staff, physicians, patients and community members all the historical moments of the last five decades. We heard presentations by Marshall Hertz, MD, Arthur Matas, MD, and Timothy Pruett, MD, as they recapped the last 50 years and gave great thanks to the wonderful physicians and staff that have had a profound impact on the success of the Transplant program. We also had the great honor to hear from the man who started it all, Dr. John Najarian.

We are very proud to announce that the event raised an astounding $116,010 for the Transplant Center!

Proceeds from the event will be given to designated areas if specified or to a fund of greatest need. Proceeds were also used to fund a Patient Education Conference the following day for all of those that have received an organ transplant at the Transplant Center.

Life After Transplant: 50th Anniversary Transplant Patient Education Conference

We would like to thank all our patients who attended our Patient Education Conference. This event would not have been possible without the generous contributions from Gala attendees the night before.

At the Patient conference you heard from medical professionals on a variety of topics, including:
+ Long Term Health Management: Nutrition, Skin Cancer and Routine Health. Presented by Richard Spong, MD, and Carol Barsness, Dietitian. [See Full Presentation; Richard Spong, MD] [See Full Presentation; Carol Barsness, Dietitian]

During the event we broke up into organ specific breakout sessions to give you the opportunity to ask questions to experts specific to your transplantation.

When we came back together as a large group we shared a video produced by nurses at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital.
