Volunteer programs are designed for one simple but very important purpose: to serve patients and their families. Fairview volunteers touch the lives of patients in many ways, and a variety of opportunities are available throughout the medical center.

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available throughout University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.
Getting Started
Every prospective volunteer must complete the following application process. Note: If you're a high school student, check back in March to learn about our Junior Volunteer Program.
- Print the instructions and complete the application form
- Pass a criminal background check
- Provide two personal references
- Attend a New Volunteer Information and Orientation Session
- Complete a health assessment with Employee Occupational Health Services
- Complete a one-on-one interview with a volunteer coordinator
Time Commitment
Volunteers work four hours weekly for six months (minimum). Summer-only volunteers work 75 hours during June, July and August.
Junior Volunteer Program
This program is a summer session for high school students age 15 or older. Information about the summer 2010 program will be available in March 2010.
